Ingredients
1kgpork spareribs1cut into individual pieces
1tbspcanola oil
4garlic clovessmashed and minced
2tbspsoy sauce
3tbsphoney
½cupwater
1tspsesame oil
toasted sesame seedsgarnish
Instructions
Blanched the ribs
Place ribs in a pot of boiling water and cook for 3–5 minutes to remove impurities.
Drain and rinse under cold water. Pat dry with paper towels.
Sear the Ribs
Heat oil in a pan or wok over medium-high heat.
Add the ribs and sear until lightly browned on all sides.
Push the ribs to one side. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant (don’t burn it!).
Mix in soy sauce, dark soy sauce, honey, and water.
Simmer
Stir everything together and bring to a simmer.
Cover and simmer on low heat for 30–40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until ribs are tender and the sauce has reduced.
To Finish
Drizzle in sesame oil and toss to coat. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds. Serve hot with steamed white rice or noodles.
